Some of you reading this might know that I have a set of twins, if not, now you do.
Each week we receive cutesy things our kids make, some get recycled and others are put away on a shelf for safe keeping. The day these showed up I developed a huge smile on my face. It of course was a mix of proud dad and the joy of seeing my offspring create but it also light a fire under me to get off my butt and get back to things that I have set aside over the years since art school. If my 2 year old twins can work with paint, what is stopping me from doing the same?
Its funny how simple kids working with acrylic can start an internal drive that pushed me to get back into oil on canvas, drawing with charcoal & graphite, playing my drums more often and shooting more photos each day. It’s been fun getting my hands dirty with the materials I use to work in everyday while in college, I really miss that. Looking back at the time between then and now, I am constantly kicking myself for taking those unused days for granted.
Thanks to 2 little mac and cheese loving kids for the unintentional inspiration.
This has been a great reboot.
